Attention! Major reform of the Schengen visa will be implement in 2020
Recently, the EU Council officially approved a reform for the Schengen visa, the Schengen visa ushered in the biggest reform in a decade, and the new Schengen visa policy will be officially implemented from January 2020!
New reform of the Schengen visa are as follows:
1.The Schengen visa can be applied for six months in advance
The original requirement from three months changed to six months that you can avoid the peak tourist time and plan ahead.
2.Multiple entry visas will be valid
The previous multiple entry visas are issued by each Schengen country, there will be different validity periods. After the reform, the validity period of multiple entry visas will be unified, which is as short as one year and no longer than five years, the expiration date will increase as the number of applications increases.
3.Short-term Schengen visa fees will rise
The short-term Schengen visa fees will increase from 60 euros to 80 euros after the reform, and for children ages between 6 to 12 will increase from 35 euros to 40 euros, they will be free under 6 years old.
4. The Schengen visa will be fully electronic
The full realization of the electronic Schengen visa is a major feature of this reform. The most time-consuming and difficult interview session of the Schengen visa has always been a problem. After the reform, the governments will be allowed to conduct interviews in a more scientific way, which greatly simplified the application process.
